MERGING TRADITION AND MODERNITY

WORDS AND PHOTOS: HOMEFOLKS

Pietrasanta, Spring 2022.

A historic town nestled in the foothills of the Apuan Alps, where marble quarries glister under the sun like perennial snow.. This is where Sepia, the new sculptural tray by Homefolks, comes to life, in line with a centuries-old artistic heritage.

At the workshop, which houses hundreds of blocks and slabs of the most extraordinary marbles, Sepia will soon rise from a block of Cremo Delicato, a rare and precious local marble distinguished by its subtle, warm veining.

Throughout the course of several weeks, a team of skilled craftsmen will shape and sand the tray by hand to achieve its silky surface and delicate form.

A personal story of coastal walks and beachcombing soon transforms into a functional sculpture.
